There are many reasons why mens ties are considered budget ties, and the term does not always equate to cheap. The term cheap often implies lower quality, but with many men’s budget ties that is not always the case. In many instances ties found in the budget bins are the result of an overstock issue with the manufacturer or the seller and are priced to sell them quickly.
The quality of the tie is not always reflected in the price as some are made quite well. Things to look for when shopping for budget ties are the type of material used and the type of stitching. Many budget ties are sewn together using a single stitch that will usually hold up well under normal use. However, if the wearer is tough on their clothing, the stitches may come loose before long.
If a pattern is used in the manufacture of budget neckties, they may not match as the material folds around the design. It takes time and typically wastes a lot of material when manufacturing patterned ties as the makers strive to have the patterns meet perfectly in the folds. Some budget ties are simply cut out of the material by pattern with no regards to how the finished product will appear. This type of neckwear is not always considered budget products, rather they are simply considered cheap.
The type of material used to make budget ties is usually what reduces the price on ties that otherwise appear to be top quality. Many forms of silk are usually used in top of the line products, while cotton, satin and polyester are often used in ties for the budget minded buyer. The price to manufacture ties with higher quality fabric is also higher while budget ties are often easier to print on other type of fabric resulting in a lower retail price.
For most men, neckwear is an afterthought and except for those who have to wear a tie every day, most often do not consider the quality of the tie as much as they consider the cost. Having the loop on the back of front part of the tie in which to hold the back portion in place is sometimes overlooked in a budget tie, but men used to this small addition miss it when it is not there.
The length of many budget ties is not always consistent and similar looking ties may not fit the same as others. On this point, many men required to wear neck ties will be more persistent in wanting them to fit the same way every day. Being able to take a budget tie out of the closet and accessorize their suit or shirt does not always come cheap, depending on the quality of the material and the manufacturing process.
However, some retailers may have an overabundance of neckties from last year’s fashion and, while they are expecting shipments of the newer fashion, they reduce the price to clear out inventory. That is the best time to buy budget ties as they are often offered for less than what many consider to be typical budget ties.
